Merry Riana: Mimpi Sejuta Dolar (Review)

Merry Riana (Chelsea Islan) who had just graduated from high school were forced to flee to Singapore because of the conditions in the country was unstable. Although actually wanted to stay, both parents are not allowed. The trip to the airport was also not safe; they were confronted by swarms of looters and forced to remove the property for the sake of safety. At the airport, the parents Merry (Ferry Salim & Cynthia Lamusu) sold what was attached to the body and just being able to buy a ticket. The important thing Merry survived, they thought.

So Merry arrived in Singapore alone. With the provision of money to buy food five times only to be discharged, he must find a place to stay and survive. Lectures and success into his dream seemed so far away.

But Merry despair. Of social media he had found her friend Irene (Kimberly Ryder) who is going to college there. With the help of Irene, Merry find a gap between the rules of Singapore is so tight and not only allowed to live in the dorm, he escapes selection tests and was admitted to one of the best universities there. Merry Smile necessarily lost when it all can only be obtained when Merry pay $ 40,000. The only hope is to take a student loan, which can only be obtained if Merry had a guarantor. Because there are no relatives, and Irene can not become a guarantor, Merry had to find a senior who wants to be a guarantor.

So Merry met Alva (Dion Wiyoko), a handsome senior who he thought would be his salvation. Turns Alva cool and very calculating. He gave all sorts of requirements before they want to help Merry, including sent him to find a second job.

Merry realized that he must study it correctly, but also aware that he needs to be successful as soon as possible. He did not want to cause her parents. He wanted to make his parents proud. So while in college he was thinking hard to double the money he had, ranging from working to spread brochures, online business, to play high-risk stock. Economic conditions was up and down, starting from only able to eat bread every day, eat well, to eat bread back again. As not enough with the existing problems, love chaos ensued when Alva expressed her feelings, while Merry aware Irene falling in love with Alva.

My favorite scenes:

I like this scene because a mother always gave good advice to his daughter. The advice is skimp and calculate (wealth management). And this scene makes me cry.

I love this scene as happy in the end. Ultimately, Alva and Merry can achieve success with effort and hard work over the years. And finally Merry can pass surrounded by loved ones.

"I'll beat the doubt, fear, feelings of inferiority, and replace it with courage."

I think this movie is really inspiring and motivating people to achieve success, and that nothing is impossible as long as we want to try.
